
Murdoch University's reputation for teaching and research in veterinary science has been successfully established through close liaison with veterinarians in private practice, government departments and owner-breeders.
As a graduate, you will be qualified to register immediately and practise as a veterinarian in Australia and several overseas countries including Great Britain, New Zealand, Malaysia, South Africa, Singapore and Hong Kong.
Murdoch University's Veterinary Science degree has been accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association. This means that for eligibility to sit USA and Canadian veterinary licensing examinations, Murdoch graduates are now considered in the same category as North American graduates.
Murdoch University has its own well-stocked animal facilities and on-campus farm, and a modern clinic and hospital that will accommodate all species of domestic animals.
Murdoch University's major research and diagnostic laboratories are of a high standard with transmission and scanning electron microscopes, sophisticated radiological, ultrasound and scintigraphy equipment and a well-equipped clinical laboratory.

English Requirements
In
order to gain admission to Murdoch University, applicants whose first language
is not English must demonstrate competency in the English language. This
requirement can be met by achieving the following scores in one of the following
English language proficiency tests*:

Entry requirements for Veterinary Science
· The new five year course will follow on from one or more years of tertiary study.
· High achieving school students will be guaranteed entrance to Veterinary Science after successful completion of one year of any other degree at Murdoch University, which must include Cell Biology (BIO152), Statistics (MAS183 or MAS184) and Chemistry (PEC140 or similar) if not achieved at a reasonable level in Year 12.
·
Applicants
who have successfully completed one or more years of formal tertiary study,
including Chemistry, Cell Biology and Statistics, or equivalent units, will be
eligible to apply for entry directly into Veterinary Science.
· A 500 word personal statement and written references supporting work experience with animals, either with a veterinarian or other related field, are required.
Applying

When submitting an Application Form please ensure that the following documents are attached:
· Certified copies of your academic transcripts. Transcripts not in English must be translated into English and must be certified.
· A 500-word personal statement demonstrating why you wish to become a veterinarian, your motivation and preparation to become a veterinarian, and how you consider your past study and experience will assist you to succeed in your studies and as a veterinarian.
·
Written
references supporting work experience in the veterinary or related field must be
submitted. A curriculum vitae summarising work experience can be included.
· Specific details and supporting evidence of any small or large animal-handling experience should be included to give strength to your application.

Applications received during each application intake will be ranked and if appropriate, offers will be made to successful applicants. Students who are not offered a place in the first round will be carried over to the next round and re-ranked along with the applications received for that particular application intake.
